Privacy Policy

Reader ("Reader", "we", "us") is a library and discovery app for book lovers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1) Information we collect
Account information (provided by you):
- Email address and other account details you choose to add, like a display name
- Authentication information necessary to sign in, handled through our authentication provider
App data (created by you):
- Books you save, mark as read/want-to-read, rate, review, or add to lists
- Preferences and settings (e.g., favorite genres, discovery settings)
Usage and device information:
- Basic app usage events (e.g., which screens are used, feature interactions)
- Device and app information such as device type, OS version, and app version
- Approximate location may be inferred from IP address by our service providers (we do not collect precise GPS location unless we clearly ask and you grant permission)
Retailer link interactions:
- When you tap "Buy" or similar buttons, we may log that a link was opened to understand performance and improve the app
- Purchases happen on the retailer's website/app (not inside Reader), and we do not receive your payment information
2) How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate Reader (account login, syncing your library, saving lists)
- Personalize recommendations and discovery features
- Improve performance, reliability, and user experience
- Provide customer support and respond to requests
- Monitor for fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Understand affiliate link performance
3) Affiliate links and third-party retailers
Reader may include links to third-party retailers (including Amazon and independent bookstores). If you tap a retailer link, you will be taken to a third-party site or app governed by that third party's privacy practices.
Affiliate disclosure: We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through certain links.
We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
4) Our service providers
We use trusted service providers to host and operate parts of Reader. For example, we use Supabase for database, authentication, and backend services. These providers process data on our behalf to provide the service.
5) How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
- With service providers who help run the app, under contractual obligations to protect it
- If required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
- In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition), where users will be notified as required
6) Data retention
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide Reader and for legitimate business purposes. You can request deletion of your account and associated data (see "Your choices" below).
7) Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access, update, or correct your information
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing

8) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
9) Children's privacy
Reader is not intended for children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10) International users
If you access Reader from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be processed and stored in those locations.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice in the app or on our website.
